FAQ

ONLINE ORDERING & SHIPPING QUESTIONS

Q: How much coffee should I order?

That depends on how much coffee you and/or your household goes through! For reference, an average 12oz cup of filter coffee will need roughly 25g of coffee, depending on the recipe you’re using. That means a 12oz (340g) bag of coffee will make about 13 cups of coffee.

Q: Do you currently offer shipping?

At this time, we do not offer shipping. If you are local to North Texas, we have two weekly local pick-ups.

Q: When will my order roast and be ready for pickup?

We roast to order Sunday – Thursday. Local pickups are on Friday and Saturday. Any order that is placed on Friday and Saturday will be ready the following week.

Q: Can I adjust an order after it’s been placed?

That depends. We aim to fulfill orders as fast as we can, so if you notice an error in your order, get in touch with us at rebelrootscoffee@gmail.com and we’ll do our best to make adjustments.

Q: Can I return a coffee or pantry item?

Due to coffee being a perishable item and our beans being roasted to order, we do not accept returns on coffee. All coffee bags are final sale.

However, if there is a problem with your coffee, please email us at rebelrootscoffee@gmail.com so we can find out what’s happening and work to make it right.

Coffee Questions

Q: How should I store my coffee?

We recommend keeping your coffee in an air-tight canister and storing it somewhere cool.

If you prefer to decant your coffee, just make sure the container is opaque and air-tight.

Q: How long does it take coffee to go stale?

Exposure to air is the biggest factor in the staling process. Once opened, we recommend consuming your coffee within 14 days for best flavor.

If left unopened, most of our coffees will taste great up to a month past the roast date, after which you may notice a loss of vibrancy and brightness.

Q: Do you need to wait to open your coffee?

When it comes to coffee, freshly roasted coffee isn’t always what you want. It’s important to understand why someone would want to allow freshly roasted coffee to rest or ‘off-gas’. Roasting coffee traps residual gases, these gases begin to disperse within a few days. It is common that within the first day of being roasted, the flavors haven’t been able to develop.

If you are a frequent coffee drinker and are familiar with freshly roasted coffee, than you likely have your own best practices.

Our recommendation varies per coffee, as a general guideline darker roasts need little to no rest time, while lighter roasts may take up to 10-14 days for the flavors to fully develop.
