Ethiopia Yirgacheffe – Organic
$17.00 – $22.00
The Chelbesa kebele (village) is a renowned producing area in Yirgacheffe in the Gedeo Zone of Ethiopia’s Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ Region (SNNPR). Here, shade-grown coffee thrives under a dense, layered, semi-forest canopy. The Chelbesa wet mill was established in 2019 with the goal of sourcing fresh coffee cherries from hundreds of nearby smallholders. Over 760 producers contributed to this Grade 1 natural processed coffee.
When tasting this coffee, tropical fruit, and blackberries were the dominant tasting notes with hints of citrus.
A natural process coffee is one that refers to a coffee processing technique where the coffee is laid out to dry with the coffee cherry intact. This creates a natural fermentation environment for the coffee and can produce very intense fruit and floral notes.
We roast this coffee to a light-medium level to develop the deep fruity notes while slightly reducing acidity to make a smooth and flavorful coffee.
