This coffee is from Bugisu, Uganda, a coffee bean like no other. It rests on the plentiful slopes of Africa’s oldest volcano, Mount Elgon in eastern Uganda. The volcanic soils on Mt. Elgon give the coffee a unique taste and richness in the body. It is low acid, even mildly earthy and bold tasting in darker roasts.
This coffee from Bugisu, Uganda comes from a fair-trade and organic certified co-op called “Friends of Mothers”. It is comprised of 50 women producers focused on coffee production.
Women make a huge contribution in the production of coffee. Empowering female coffee growers is so important because these inspirational women are helping to pave the way for a brighter future. These women are extremely selective during the harvest. They only pick ripe cherries that are pulped within 12 hours to ensure a high cup score, thereafter fermented for 24 hours, washed, and then dried.
Roasting Scheduler: We roast Monday-Wednesday. Orders placed after Thursday will be filled immediately if we have the coffee on hand. Otherwise, your order will be roasted & shipped the following week.
